LAWRENCE, Kan. — The University of Kansas announced that quarterback Jalon Daniels has recently undergone minor knee surgery and will face some restrictions during spring practice.

Daniels is set to begin his sixth season, having started 33 games for the Jayhawks. The surgery was deemed minor, which suggests that he may not be sidelined for an extended period.

Originally from Lawndale, California, Daniels has had his fair share of injury setbacks. In the 2022 season, he missed four games due to a shoulder injury, followed by a more significant back injury in 2023 that kept him off the field for ten games.

Despite these challenges, he managed to start all 12 games last season. Although he faced difficulties, he helped lead the Jayhawks to consecutive victories against ranked teams like Iowa State, BYU, and Colorado. Throughout the season, Daniels completed 57% of his passes, averaging 204.5 passing yards per game while throwing 14 touchdowns. However, he also tied for the highest number of interceptions in the Big 12, totaling 12 for the season.

As the spring practice period approaches, the focus will be on his recovery and how he manages his return to the field, aiming to bounce back from the recent surgery while preparing for the upcoming challenges of the season.
