CHICAGO — In a competitive match, Villanova overcame DePaul with a final score of 59-49 on Wednesday night, largely thanks to Jordan Longino’s impressive performance, scoring 17 points.

Longino demonstrated his shooting skill by converting 8 of 14 attempts from the floor for the Wildcats, who moved to a record of 13-10, with 6 wins and 6 losses in the Big East Conference.

Eric Dixon contributed to the team’s success by scoring 14 points, although he had a tough shooting night, hitting only 4 of 14, with his three-point shooting at 25% (1 for 4). However, he was perfect from the free-throw line, making all five attempts. Wooga Poplar also played a key role, adding 12 points on 5 of 9 shooting, which included making 2 of his 4 attempts from three-point range.

On the other side, for the Blue Demons, David Thomas was the standout player, finishing with 16 points. CJ Gunn supported his team by scoring 13 points and also recorded five steals. Layden Blocker contributed as well, managing six points and providing six assists throughout the game.

The contest saw Villanova take control, grabbing the lead with just under four minutes left in the first half and maintaining it for the remainder of the match.

As the teams look forward, Villanova will host Xavier on Sunday, while DePaul is slated to face Marquette on Tuesday.
