SAN ANTONIO — In a thrilling showdown on Wednesday night, Tulane triumphed over UTSA with a narrow final score of 61-60, thanks in large part to Asher Woods’ impressive performance, scoring 18 points, and Rowan Brumbaugh’s clutch free throws that sealed the game with just two seconds to go.
Woods contributed not only offensively but also defensively, pulling down five rebounds for the Green Wave, which improved their overall record to 13-10 and 7-3 in the American Athletic Conference. Brumbaugh, despite struggling with his shooting throughout the game—hitting just one of eight attempts from the field and missing all five of his three-point attempts—made a significant impact by going a perfect 11 of 11 from the free-throw line, ultimately finishing with 13 points. Additionally, Kam Williams added eight points while shooting from the floor at a 33% clip, including two out of eight from beyond the arc.
On the other hand, the Roadrunners, who now stand at 10-12 overall and 4-6 in their conference play, were propelled by Marcus Millender’s standout performance, where he tallied 28 points. Raekwon Horton also made a notable contribution with 11 points and recorded two steals, showcasing his defensive prowess for UTSA.
In the first half, Woods led Tulane, scoring eight points, but the team went into halftime trailing 33-25. However, the momentum shifted in the second half as Brumbaugh took charge, scoring 13 points, and the Green Wave finished the game strong, netting the last 10 points to clinch the win.
Through a combination of strategic plays and tenacity, Tulane overcame their early deficit to ensure a hard-fought victory against a formidable opponent.
