OKLAHOMA CITY — Kevin Durant did not participate in the Phoenix Suns’ matchup on Wednesday against the Oklahoma City Thunder due to a sprained left ankle.

The 36-year-old All-Star forward, who has been at the center of trade discussions, has been performing strongly this season, averaging 26.9 points, 6.1 rebounds, and 4.2 assists per game. He is now just 26 points shy of reaching 30,000 career points, a milestone he could have achieved in a game against the franchise where his career began.

Suns coach Mike Budenholzer provided some insight into Durant’s condition, mentioning that he had twisted his ankle multiple times during the fourth quarter of a previous game and is currently experiencing soreness. “He can’t go. It’s impressive that he finished the other night, and we’re hoping that it’s short term,” Budenholzer stated, expressing optimism about Durant’s recovery.
