Outfielder Harrison Bader has secured a one-year contract with the Minnesota Twins, as confirmed by a source close to the negotiations. The source requested anonymity while discussing the agreement, which is still pending finalization and includes a mutual option for the year 2026.

Bader, who earned a Gold Glove while playing for the St. Louis Cardinals in 2021, will be embarking on his fifth team within the last five seasons. In the previous year, while with the New York Mets, he recorded a batting average of .236, hitting 12 home runs, driving in 51 runs, and successfully stealing 17 bases out of 25 attempts. However, his postseason performance was limited, as he started only two games in the 12 he participated in.

The Twins are anticipating that Bader will contribute as a reliable right-handed bat off the bench, along with providing strong defensive skills in the outfield. His presence is expected to be especially valuable during times when Byron Buxton needs rest, helping to maintain the team’s defensive integrity.

Primarily playing as a center fielder, Bader is well-equipped to take on corner outfield roles as well. His expected role for the Twins mirrors that of Michael A. Taylor from the 2023 season. The franchise had originally planned on utilizing Manny Margot for a similar purpose the previous year; however, Margot’s struggles led to his departure from the team.

Over his career, Bader has posted a .242 batting average, racked up 71 home runs, 268 RBIs, and has successfully stolen 94 bases out of 120 attempts—achieving these stats while playing for teams including the Cardinals (2017-22), the New York Yankees (2022-23), Cincinnati, and most recently, the Mets, who had signed him to a one-year contract worth $10.5 million.

In addition to Bader, the Twins are on the verge of finalizing a one-year agreement with left-handed pitcher Danny Coulombe. Coulombe, who previously played for the Twins from 2020 to 2022, spent the past two seasons with the Baltimore Orioles. The 35-year-old pitcher showcased a strong performance last season, finishing with a record of 1-0, a 2.12 ERA, and a single save across 33 relief appearances. He struck out 32 batters while allowing just five walks in 29 2/3 innings of work.

Coulombe’s career spans over ten seasons and includes stints with the Los Angeles Dodgers (2014-15), Oakland (2015-18), as well as his time with the Twins and the Orioles. Throughout his career, he has accumulated a record of 15 wins and 9 losses, with a cumulative ERA of 3.52.
