Texas Rangers to induct two-time World Series shortstop Elvis Andrus into their Hall of Fame

ARLINGTON, Texas — Elvis Andrus, a two-time World Series shortstop, is set to join the Texas Rangers Hall of Fame this summer. The Rangers announced Wednesday that Andrus will become the 27th inductee into the Hall of Fame, which was created in 2003. The induction ceremony is scheduled for June 28, prior to a game against the Seattle Mariners.

During his impressive 12-year career with the Rangers, Andrus made a significant impact by starting a remarkable 1,605 games at shortstop. He debuted at just 20 years old in 2009 and continued to be a key player until being traded to the Oakland Athletics at the beginning of spring training in 2021. Andrus contributed to the team’s first two World Series appearances in 2010 and 2011, achieving a solid batting average of .274. He holds the franchise record for stolen bases, boasting 305—133 more than the next player in line. Additionally, he ranks in the top three of various team history statistics, including total games played (1,652), at-bats (6,366), hits (983), and triples (48).

After sitting out last season, Andrus officially retired as a member of the Rangers on September 6. He spent the subsequent seasons with the Athletics until being traded to the Chicago White Sox, where he continued to play through 2023. Looking ahead, Andrus will serve as a pregame and postgame analyst for a selection of televised games on the newly established Rangers Sports Network.

In another notable upcoming event, the Rangers have announced the dedication of a bronze statue honoring Hall of Fame third baseman Adrian Beltré on August 22, ahead of a game against the Cleveland Guardians. Beltré, who was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame last year on the first ballot, had his No. 29 jersey retired by the Rangers in 2019. The statue will be unveiled outside Globe Life Field, joining existing tributes to Hall of Fame players Nolan Ryan and Iván “Pudge” Rodríguez at the venue.
