Gonçalo Oliveira, a player originally from Portugal who competes for Venezuela, has been provisionally suspended due to a doping violation, as announced on Wednesday.
The International Tennis Integrity Agency disclosed that the 29-year-old athlete was tested for banned substances on November 25 during an ATP Challenger event held in Manzanillo, Mexico.
The analysis of his A sample revealed the presence of methamphetamine, a substance that is prohibited in professional sports.
This mandatory suspension took effect on January 17, according to the agency.
Oliveira has chosen not to contest the suspension.
During his career, he achieved his highest doubles ranking, reaching 77th place in August 2020.
