NEW ALBANY, Ohio — A tragic shooting at a cosmetics warehouse in New Albany on Tuesday night resulted in one fatality and five individuals suffering injuries, as confirmed by local officials.
Emergency responders transported the injured parties to nearby hospitals, and authorities believe that the alleged shooter is no longer present at the location, as stated by Josh Poland, a representative for the city.
Police Chief Greg Jones characterized the shooting, which occurred shortly before 11 p.m., as a “targeted type of attack.” He reassured the community that there appears to be no ongoing danger to the public from the suspect.
“We have identified a person of interest and are actively seeking to apprehend them,” he disclosed during a press briefing. A firearm was located at the scene of the incident.
The warehouse, which belongs to a company that produces various cosmetics and toiletries, became the site of this violent event. Police have yet to determine a motive behind the attack and haven’t updated the community on the conditions of those injured.
In response to the emergency, approximately 150 individuals were safely evacuated to an adjacent building, confirmed Chief Jones.
