A burgeoning online movement is emerging to counter the initial measures taken by President Donald Trump’s administration, with nationwide protests scheduled for Wednesday.

Organized under the hashtags #buildtheresistance and #50501—indicating 50 demonstrations across 50 states in one day—the initiative has garnered participation in various cities alongside events at state legislatures.

The movement has established a presence on several social media platforms and dedicated websites. Promotional materials circulating online criticize Project 2025, a far-right agenda aimed at reshaping government policies and societal norms, featuring slogans like “reject fascism” and “defend our democracy.” Organizers gathered at a coffee shop near Michigan’s Capitol, creating a workspace with poster boards showcasing messages such as “No Deportations Ever!” and “Workers Unite!”

Kelsey Brianne, one of the primary organizers for the rally in Michigan, described the effort as a “true grassroots movement.” After learning about the initiative on Sunday night, she has been busy coordinating speakers and ensuring safety during the event.

“Getting involved was a decision that came from recognizing the pressing need for action,” Brianne explained on Tuesday. “I don’t want to look back and feel like I remained passive during this pivotal time.”

In the early weeks of his presidency, Trump has enacted several executive orders addressing trade, immigration, and environmental policies. As opposition among Democrats intensifies, the number of protests continues to rise.

Recently, thousands of protestors took to the streets of Southern California, including a significant demonstration in downtown Los Angeles that resulted in traffic disruptions on a major freeway for several hours, all in response to Trump’s immigration policies.
