BOWLING GREEN, Ohio — In an exciting matchup on Tuesday night, Marcus Johnson led the Bowling Green Falcons to an 84-77 victory over Northern Illinois, putting an end to their five-game losing skid.
Johnson’s impressive performance included 22 points, along with 13 rebounds and three steals, showcasing his all-around skills for the Falcons, who now hold a record of 8-14 overall and 3-7 in the Mid-American Conference.
Trey Thomas contributed significantly as well, scoring 17 points with a shooting line of 4 for 13, including four successful attempts from beyond the arc. He also went 5 for 6 from the charity stripe and added six rebounds and five assists to help his team secure the win.
Derrick Butler also made an impact, adding 15 points to the scoreboard with a shooting percentage of 50%, shooting 5 for 10 overall and converting 4 of 5 free throws.
For the Huskies, Quentin Jones played a pivotal role, finishing with 19 points and five assists. Quaran McPherson provided support with 18 points and six rebounds, while James Dent Jr. added 14 points, seven rebounds, and two steals.
Bowling Green took control early in the game, establishing a lead just 59 seconds into the first half. They maintained their advantage throughout, heading into halftime with a 38-31 lead, largely thanks to Johnson’s strong first-half performance where he scored 15 points.
Looking ahead, both teams are set to return to action on Saturday. Bowling Green will face off against Coastal Carolina, while Northern Illinois will host Louisiana.
