MURRAY, Ky. — In a competitive matchup on Tuesday night, Bennett Stirtz scored 23 points, leading the Drake Bulldogs to a 55-45 victory over the Murray State Racers, marking their ninth consecutive win.

Stirtz demonstrated impressive shooting skills, connecting on 9 of 16 attempts from the field, including 1 of 3 from beyond the arc, and maintained a perfect record at the free-throw line, hitting all 4 attempts. His strong performance has further solidified Drake’s formidable presence in the Missouri Valley Conference, where they hold a record of 11-2. Tavion Banks was also pivotal for the Bulldogs, contributing 16 points on 7 of 10 shooting, along with two made free throws and five rebounds. Kael Combs added six points, going 2 of 4 from the field.

Murray State’s effort was led in scoring by Nick Ellington, who netted 10 points, alongside teammate Kylen Milton, who also scored 10. AJ Ferguson chipped in with eight points, but it wasn’t enough to turn the tide against the determined Bulldogs.

Drake grabbed the lead early in the game, taking control with 15:42 left in the first half and never looking back. In a dominant first-half display, Banks accounted for 12 points, helping his team build a comfortable advantage, finishing the half with a score of 32-18.

Both teams are scheduled to return to action on Saturday, with Drake set to host Indiana State, while Murray State will head to Valparaiso for their next game.
