TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — In an exciting matchup on Tuesday night, Jamir Watkins led the Florida State Seminoles with 21 points while Malique Ewin contributed 18 points and secured 10 rebounds, aiding the team in a 67-60 victory over the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. This win marked a significant moment for Florida State as they ended a four-game losing streak.

Florida State, improving to a record of 14-9 overall and 5-7 in the ACC, maintained their impressive home record against Notre Dame, remaining undefeated at 8-0.

During the second half, Florida State never fell behind, establishing a lead of up to nine points at one stage. Notre Dame managed to narrow the gap to 56-55 with just 2:46 left on the clock. However, Daquan Davis responded effectively with a jumper, subsequently followed by Ewin, who scored the next seven points for Florida State, pushing their lead to 65-57 with only 38 seconds remaining.

Watkins had an efficient game, hitting 8 of 15 shots, which included all three of the team’s three-pointers, in addition to grabbing eight boards. Ewin shot 6-of-9 from the field and was successful on 6 of 8 attempts from the charity stripe.

For Notre Dame, Markus Burton stood out as he scored 22 points with Tae Davis adding 14 points alongside nine rebounds.

The game began with Notre Dame establishing an early 17-7 lead, but Florida State responded emphatically with a remarkable 22-2 run, entering halftime with a slender 29-28 advantage. The largest lead for the Seminoles came at 43-34 with 15:18 left in the game. The contest saw three additional ties before reaching the midway point of the second half.

Looking ahead, Notre Dame will head to Virginia Tech on Saturday, while Florida State will face Wake Forest on February 12.
