MAITLAND, Fla. — In the early hours of Tuesday, law enforcement apprehended Marcus Jordan, the 34-year-old son of NBA legend Michael Jordan, in Central Florida under a misdemeanor drug allegation. This incident unfolded when police discovered his vehicle stranded on railroad tracks shortly before a commuter train was set to pass through the area.
Marcus faces charges for possession of cocaine, categorized as a second-degree misdemeanor, as well as resisting an officer without violence, also a misdemeanor. Details from court records reveal the nature of these charges following the encounter.
According to the Maitland Police Department’s report, officers found Jordan’s Lamborghini SUV incapacitated on the tracks in a suburb near Orlando, with the approaching train mere minutes away. The vehicle was reportedly stuck due to its tires being lodged in dirt and debris, a result of being spun around extensively.
The situation escalated as officers discovered that Jordan had recently fled a traffic stop in a nearby county. After noticing signs of impairment, including the smell of alcohol and his slurred speech, officers instructed him to exit the vehicle. A search yielded a bag that tested positive for cocaine found in his pants.
Marcus Jordan, who previously played basketball at the University of Central Florida, opted not to make statements to the media upon his release from the Orange County Jail later that day.
