OGDEN, Utah — In a thrilling contest on Monday night, Blaise Threatt delivered an impressive performance, scoring a career-high 34 points, which played a crucial role in Weber State’s 77-73 victory over Northern Arizona. Threatt’s stellar contribution was particularly vital as Trent McLaughlin also shined, achieving a personal best of 35 points for the Lumberjacks.
The game showcased a dramatic turn in the final moments when McLaughlin connected on a three-pointer with just 34 seconds remaining, putting Northern Arizona momentarily ahead at 73-72. However, Viljami Vartiainen responded swiftly for Weber State, sinking a three-pointer just 12 seconds later to regain the lead. Trevor Hennig sealed the win for the Wildcats by hitting two free throws with only two seconds left on the clock, providing them with a critical two-possession cushion.
In addition to Threatt’s scoring, he also collected 10 rebounds for Weber State, who now holds a record of 9-15 overall and stands at 3-7 in the Big Sky Conference. Trevor Hennig contributed significantly to the score with 14 points, while Vartiainen added 10 to the team’s total.
For Northern Arizona, McLaughlin not only led in scoring but also facilitated the game with four assists and two steals. His teammates contributed as well, with Diego Campisano adding 12 points and Jayden Jackson supporting with 10 points, alongside five assists and two steals. So far this season, the Lumberjacks hold a record of 13-10 and are 4-6 in conference play.
