MEMPHIS, Tenn. — On Monday night, a fan collapsed near the court just before the scheduled matchup between the San Antonio Spurs and the Memphis Grizzlies.
Both teams were ready for the game to begin when the sudden incident drew attention to the courtside area.
Emergency medical personnel rushed to assist the man, leading to both teams being directed back to their locker rooms as the game was put on hold.
After approximately seven minutes of medical attention on the scene, the fan was carried out of the arena on a stretcher.

A representative from the Grizzlies expressed concern, stating, “We are sending our thoughts and prayers to the individual involved and are thankful to the first responders and medical staff who provided the necessary care.”
The game eventually resumed after a delay of about 45 minutes.
Sports agent Mike Miller, who witnessed the incident from a nearby seat, alerted authorities when he realized something was amiss.
“It was awful,” Miller recounted. “He was sitting and talking to people, and then when the national anthem played, he didn’t get up.”
