NEW ORLEANS — NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell recently shared that the league might consider hosting a Super Bowl outside the United States if it successfully establishes an international team.
In recent years, the NFL has been actively working to broaden its global reach, having conducted games in various countries, including England, Germany, Mexico, and Brazil. Furthermore, a match is set to take place in Spain in 2025.
Currently, all Super Bowl games have taken place in NFL stadiums located within the United States, and there has not been any serious contemplation regarding hosting these events at international locales.
“I genuinely believe that there is a future possibility where we could have an international franchise. Should that come to fruition, it wouldn’t really surprise me if a Super Bowl were then held there as well,” Goodell stated.
However, a Super Bowl conducted outside North America would bring its own set of challenges, particularly concerning the time zone differences affecting U.S.-based broadcasters.
