A shooting incident at the United Nations facility in Kabul resulted in one fatality and left another individual injured, as reported by the U.N. mission in Afghanistan on Monday.
On Sunday, a Taliban combatant opened fire on a U.N. security post that was situated outside the compound’s protective wall, per the U.N.’s statement.
The security personnel contracted by the U.N. refrained from returning fire during the altercation. One international guard suffered minor injuries and received medical attention at a hospital, according to the U.N.
The Taliban assailant was subsequently discovered deceased at a site located outside the compound. However, the U.N. did not provide any details regarding the circumstances of the fighter’s death.
Consequently, both the U.N. and the Taliban are conducting independent investigations into the event. At this time, there has been no immediate response from Taliban officials regarding the incident.
