COLUMBUS, Ohio — In a thrilling matchup, the No. 8 Ohio State women’s basketball team triumphed over Washington with a score of 66-56. Cotie McMahon led the charge with 19 points and five rebounds, helping the Buckeyes secure their win in their debut season within the Big Ten conference.
Freshman guard Jaloni Cambridge contributed significantly, adding 13 points and five rebounds to the team’s efforts, while Chance Gray chipped in with 11 points. The Buckeyes improved their record to 20 wins and just one loss (20-1, 9-1 Big Ten) and continued their winning streak to three games. Furthermore, they maintained an unbeaten home record, now standing at 11-0 this season.
On the opposing side, Washington (13-9, 4-6) saw Hannah Stines shine with a game-high 17 points, alongside Dalayah Daniels, who recorded 13 points, seven rebounds, and four assists. Despite showing great resilience through three quarters, the Huskies struggled with errors that ultimately hindered their performance against Ohio State.
In an important moment of the contest, Ohio State held a 50-38 lead late in the third quarter; however, Washington surged back with a quick 10-point streak to narrow the gap to 50-48. The Buckeyes quickly regrouped, countering with a 9-3 run to maintain control of the game.
