Kenesaw Mountain Landis served as the first Commissioner of Baseball from November 12, 1920, until his passing on November 25, 1944.
Following him was Happy Chandler, who held the position from April 24, 1945, to July 15, 1951.
Ford Frick took over the role next, serving from September 20, 1951, until November 16, 1965.
Then came William Eckert, who was in office from November 17, 1965, until December 20, 1968.
Bowie Kuhn succeeded Eckert, holding the commissioner’s seat from February 4, 1969, to September 30, 1984.
Peter Ueberroth followed Kuhn, serving from October 1, 1984, to March 31, 1989.
A. Bartlett Giamatti’s brief tenure lasted from April 1, 1989, to September 1, 1989.
After him, Fay Vincent took the reins, remaining in the position from September 13, 1989, to September 7, 1992.
Bud Selig then became the next Commissioner, acting from September 9, 1992, to July 8, 1998, before he was officially appointed to the role, serving until January 24, 2015.
The current Commissioner, Rob Manfred, has been in charge since January 25, 2015.
