SAN FRANCISCO — On Saturday evening, San Francisco secured a convincing victory over Washington State with a score of 75-51, thanks in part to Marcus Williams, who contributed 17 points to the team’s success.
Williams also made a significant impact in other areas, recording six rebounds, seven assists, and three steals for the Dons, improving their record to 18-6 overall and 8-3 in the West Coast Conference. Junjie Wang supported the effort by scoring 16 points and grabbing five rebounds, while Ryan Beasley added 14 points and showcased his shooting skills by going 4 for 9 from the field, including 2 for 4 from beyond the arc, and hitting all four of his free throws.
The Cougars, who fell to 15-9 with a 5-6 conference record, were led in scoring by Dane Erikstrup and Ethan Price, each finishing the game with 12 points. LeJuan Watts also played a notable role, contributing nine points, six rebounds, and three steals.
San Francisco gained control of the game towards the end of the first half, taking the lead with 4:18 remaining before halftime. They went into the break with a solid 38-26 lead, aided by Wang’s impressive 13-point performance in the first half. The Dons later expanded their advantage to 58-35 during the second half, driven by a dominant 14-2 scoring run. In the latter half of the game, Jason Rivera-Torres emerged as a key contributor, scoring a team-high nine points and helping to seal the convincing victory for San Francisco.
Both teams are scheduled to play again on Thursday, with San Francisco set to host Saint Mary’s, while Washington State prepares to visit Oregon State.
