RIVERSIDE, Calif. — The UC Riverside Highlanders achieved a significant victory over Cal Poly on Saturday night, securing an 80-62 win, with Barrington Hargress leading the way by scoring 20 points.
Hargress had an impressive shooting performance, hitting 8 of his 16 attempts, with a notable 4 of 11 success rate from three-point range, contributing to his team’s improved record of 15-8 overall and 8-3 in the Big West Conference.
Isaiah Moses also made an impact by adding 13 points, although he shot 6 for 17 overall, including just 1 for 7 from beyond the arc. In addition, he facilitated the game with six assists. Joel Armotrading complemented the scoring with 10 points, displaying accuracy by shooting 3 of 4 from the field and going perfect from the free-throw line with four makes.
For the Mustangs, Peter Bandelj was the standout scorer with 12 points. Teammates Isaac Jessup and Jarred Hyder also contributed with 10 points each, but it was not enough to secure a win for Cal Poly, which fell to an overall record of 8-15 and 2-9 in conference play.
Looking ahead, both teams are set to meet again on Thursday. UC Riverside will travel to face UC San Diego, while Cal Poly will host Hawaii.
