NORFOLK, Va. — In a thrilling contest on Saturday, Terrance Jones was pivotal in Norfolk State’s thrilling 67-65 overtime win against South Carolina State.

Jones showcased his clutch performance by scoring nine of his total 20 points in the overtime period. With just 55 seconds remaining in the extra period, he confidently sank two free throws, allowing the Spartans to take a narrow 64-63 lead. Shortly after, he extended the margin with a three-point play, pushing the score to 67-63 with a mere 15 seconds left on the clock, ultimately sealing the game for his team.

In terms of overall performance, Jones connected on 7 out of 14 field goal attempts, including just one out of five from beyond the arc, and he was perfect from the charity stripe, hitting all five free throws. The Spartans improved their season record to 15-8, with a 5-1 mark in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference. Fellow teammates contributed as well, with Brian Moore Jr. adding 18 points and Jalen Myers pitching in with nine.

For the Bulldogs, Mitchel Taylor was the standout performer, leading his team with 15 points. Drayton Jones contributed with 14 points, six rebounds, and two steals, while Davion Everett also made his mark by scoring 13 points and grabbing six rebounds.

The game took an exciting turn as South Carolina State managed to force overtime with a layup from Everett, which tied the game at 54 with just 18 seconds left in regulation.
