George Mason edges out Davidson with a 64-60 victory

DAVIDSON, N.C. — In a closely contested matchup, George Mason University managed to secure a 64-60 victory over Davidson on Saturday evening, marking the Patriots’ seventh consecutive win.

Jalen Haynes was a standout player for George Mason, contributing 12 points and making three crucial blocks. The Patriots, now sitting at an impressive 17-5 overall record and 8-1 in the Atlantic 10 Conference, also saw Darius Maddox add to the scoreboard with 12 points, shooting 4 for 11 and making two of his five attempts from beyond the three-point line. Brayden O’Connor chipped in with 10 points, going 3 for 7 in field goal attempts, while maintaining a perfect record from the free-throw line, hitting all four of his shots.

On the side of the Wildcats, Bobby Durkin led his team with 17 points and secured eight rebounds in a solid performance. Reed Bailey provided additional support to Davidson with 11 points and four assists, while Connor Kochera matched his scoring with 11 points of his own, along with contributing two steals.

As the game progressed, George Mason found themselves ahead 33-29 at halftime and later surged ahead with a dominant 14-2 run in the second half, extending their lead to 50-34 with just over ten minutes remaining.

Looking ahead, George Mason is set to face George Washington in their next game on Wednesday, while Davidson will be traveling to Dayton for their matchup on Tuesday.
