RICHMOND, Ky.
— In an exciting matchup on Saturday night, George Kimble III shone brightly, leading Eastern Kentucky to an 88-82 victory over Austin Peay.
Kimble delivered a remarkable performance, scoring 27 points with an impressive shooting percentage of 10 out of 17 from the field. His proficiency from long range was notable, as he sank 4 out of 6 attempts from beyond the arc, and was flawless from the free-throw line, making all 3 attempts. This win improved Eastern Kentucky’s record to 12-11 overall and 6-4 within the Atlantic Sun Conference.
Joining Kimble in the scoring was Montavious Myrick, who contributed a solid 14 points, hitting 5 of 6 field goals and going 4 for 6 at the free-throw line, along with seven rebounds. Turner Buttry also had a noteworthy game, scoring 13 points with his shooting at 4 of 6 from the floor and hitting all four of his free throws.
On the other side of the court, the Governors fought hard, with Sai Witt leading their efforts by scoring 29 points while grabbing six rebounds. LJ Thomas added 19 points, complemented by nine rebounds and four assists, showcasing his all-around skills. Anton Brookshire also made a contribution, finishing with 14 points.
Looking ahead, Eastern Kentucky is set to face FGCU on Thursday in an away game, while Austin Peay will host North Alabama on Wednesday.
