BOWLING GREEN, Ky. — Don McHenry was the standout player on Saturday, scoring 27 points off the bench, guiding Western Kentucky to a convincing 101-69 victory over New Mexico State.
McHenry displayed impressive shooting skills, making 8 of 11 attempts from the floor, including an impressive 7 of 9 from beyond the arc, and he was perfect on four free throws. His contribution was pivotal in helping the Hilltoppers improve their season record to 14-8 and maintain a conference record of 5-4 in Conference USA. Alongside him, Tyrone Marshall added 24 points along with seven rebounds, showcasing a strong performance. Enoch Kalambay also contributed meaningfully, going 6 of 8 from the field to finish with 13 points.
On the other side, Peter Filipovity led the Aggies with 22 points and secured eight rebounds. Supporting him were Christian Cook with 12 points and Zawdie Jackson, who added 10 points along with three steals to the team’s efforts. New Mexico State’s current record stands at 12-10, also with a conference record of 5-4.
Looking ahead, Western Kentucky is set to face Kennesaw State in an away game on Thursday, while New Mexico State will host UTEP on Saturday, aiming for a rebound after this challenging loss.
