CHARLESTON, S.C. — In an impressive showing, Trey Fort scored 17 points as Samford triumphed over Citadel with a score of 83-58 on Saturday.
Fort demonstrated his shooting prowess, connecting on 6 of 10 attempts from the floor, which included a 3-point success rate of 3 for 6. Samford, now holding a record of 18 wins and 5 losses, with 8 wins against 2 losses in the Southern Conference, also saw Riley Allenspach contribute significantly, adding 15 points on an efficient 6 of 7 shooting, including 3 out of 4 from the free-throw line.
Collin Holloway also made his mark on the game, finishing with 14 points after hitting 5 of 7 shots, with most of his success coming from beyond the arc where he achieved 4 out of 6.
On the other side, it was Christian Moore who stood out for Citadel, leading his team with 19 points and contributing with two steals. Sola Adebisi had a noteworthy performance, scoring 18 points and grabbing nine rebounds. Brody Fox played a versatile role, providing six points, six rebounds, five assists, and four steals for Citadel, which has now extended its losing streak to 13 games, leaving them at 5 wins and 16 losses overall, without any wins in 10 conference games.
Looking ahead, both teams will be back on the court Wednesday. Samford is set to host Mercer, while Citadel will face off against UNC Greensboro in their home venue.
