Detroit Mercy hands Green Bay their 19th consecutive defeat, 67-57

DETROIT — Orlando Lovejoy was instrumental in the Detroit Mercy Titans’ victory over Green Bay, contributing 19 points to secure a 67-57 win on Saturday.

In addition to his scoring, Lovejoy showcased his defensive skills by recording five steals for the Titans, who now hold a record of 8-16 overall and 4-9 in the Horizon League. Legend Geeter also had a strong performance, netting 15 points with a shooting percentage of 50%, including one successful 3-point attempt. He further supplemented his team’s effort with seven rebounds. Nate Johnson added to the Titans’ scoring with 12 points, hitting 40% of his shots from the field, including two out of four from beyond the arc, and converting two free throws.

On the opposing side, Green Bay struggled to find success, marking their 19th straight defeat. The Phoenix, who now stand at 2-22 overall and yet to win a Horizon League game with a record of 0-13, were led by Yonatan Levy, who achieved a double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds. Preston Ruedinger supported his team with 13 points and collected six rebounds, while Marcus Hall contributed 11 points, seven rebounds, and two steals. The Phoenix’s last victory was on November 19, when they defeated Southern Illinois-Edwardsville 82-57.

Detroit Mercy is set to play their next game on Wednesday against Robert Morris away from home, while Green Bay will be traveling to face Purdue Fort Wayne next Saturday.
