FRISCO, Texas — The Dallas Cowboys made a significant coaching move on Saturday by bringing Klayton Adams on board as their new offensive coordinator. This decision aligns with a broader strategy aimed at revitalizing the running game, now under the supervision of new head coach Brian Schottenheimer.
Schottenheimer is set to take on the play-calling duties, a role previously filled by ex-coach Mike McCarthy during his last two seasons, with Schottenheimer himself having been the offensive coordinator in that timeframe.
The hiring of Adams finalizes Schottenheimer’s selection of the primary coordinators for the team. In a notable return, Matt Eberflus, the former head coach of the Chicago Bears who was dismissed after just 12 games this season, will be stepping back in as the defensive coordinator for the Cowboys. This marks his second term with the organization. Nick Sorensen will oversee the special teams unit.
Adams joins the Cowboys after spending the last two years with the Arizona Cardinals. Before that, he was part of the Indianapolis Colts coaching staff for four seasons. His coaching career began in college, spanning 14 years, which kicked off at Boise State, where he played as a center. He transitioned to the NFL while serving as an assistant at Colorado.
