KENT, Ohio — In a thrilling matchup on Friday night, Nate Johnson propelled Akron to an impressive 85-71 victory over Kent State, marking the team’s ninth consecutive win.
Johnson’s performance included 20 points and five rebounds, contributing significantly to the Zips’ success, who now stand at 16-5 overall and maintain an unbeaten record of 9-0 in the Mid-American Conference.
Tavari Johnson also played a crucial role, scoring 15 points with an efficient shooting display, hitting 6 out of 9 attempts. He also connected on two of three three-point attempts and recorded five assists. James Okonkwo added to the Zips’ tally, finishing the game with 11 points after shooting 3 of 4 from the floor and converting 5 of 6 from the free-throw line.
For the Golden Flashes (13-8, 4-5), Jalen Sullinger led the team with 23 points, showcasing his scoring ability throughout the game. Anthony Morales supported the effort with an additional 10 points.
