In a thrilling matchup on Friday night, Yale triumphed over Princeton with a score of 77-70, largely thanks to an impressive performance by John Poulakidas, who scored 23 points.
Poulakidas demonstrated his shooting prowess, making 8 out of 14 attempts from the field, which included 3 of 5 from beyond the arc. He also converted 4 of 5 free throw attempts, contributing significantly to Yale’s success as they improved their record to 12-6 overall and 5-0 in Ivy League play.
Nick Townsend supported the Bulldogs with 14 points while also grabbing five rebounds. Bez Mbeng added to the offensive effort by scoring 11 points, hitting 4 of 8 shots from the floor, including 3 of 5 three-pointers. With this victory, the Bulldogs celebrated their sixth consecutive win.
On the other side, Princeton’s Jack Stanton was a standout player, leading his team with 17 points. The Tigers, now at 14-6 overall and 3-2 in the Ivy League, also received contributions from Blake Peters, who netted 16 points, and Jackson Hicke, who concluded the game with 13 points along with two steals.
Both Yale and Princeton will be back in action on Saturday, with the Bulldogs set to visit Penn and the Tigers hosting Brown in their respective games.
