Santiago Pierotti netted two goals in the second half, leading Lecce to a 3-1 victory over Parma, which enabled Lecce to escape the Serie A relegation zone for the first time since early November.
This win was particularly significant for Lecce as it followed two heavy defeats, lifting the team from 18th to 13th position in the 20-team league standings.
Lecce demonstrated notable determination, overcoming an early setback when Nikola Krstovi? had a goal disallowed in the 24th minute. They then faced another challenge when Parma was awarded a penalty, which Emanuele Valeri successfully converted, putting Lecce behind.
However, Krstovi? quickly redeemed himself by scoring just two minutes later, leveling the match. His contributions did not end there; in the 63rd minute, he assisted Pierotti, who was born in Argentina, putting Lecce in the lead.
Pierotti, who came on as a substitute in the second half, sealed the victory for Lecce with a decisive goal in the third minute of stoppage time, marking only the team’s second win since mid-December.
On the other hand, Parma’s struggles continued as they managed just one win in their last nine league matches, resulting in their drop to 18th in the standings.
