Crystal Dunn, a seasoned player for the U.S. national soccer team, has officially joined Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), signing a contract that will keep her with the club until the end of the 2027 season. This significant change comes shortly after Dunn’s departure from Gotham FC in the National Women’s Soccer League, where she spent a season following her signing as a free agent in late 2023.
Expressing her excitement about this new opportunity, Dunn stated, “I’m thrilled to embark on this new journey. My family stands by me, and it was crucial for me to join a club that values me as a player while also welcoming my family. I feel a strong connection to France and can already sense that this place feels like home.” This statement was shared by PSG, highlighting the importance of family in her career decisions.
Dunn’s husband is of French descent, and together they have a three-year-old son named Marcel. The support from her family has been a significant factor in this transition to a new country and club.
The 32-year-old midfielder had a brief stint with Gotham FC, where she participated in 23 matches, contributing one goal and two assists throughout the season. Before joining Gotham, Dunn played for the Portland Thorns, during which she took a substantial break in 2022 to welcome the birth of her son. Additionally, her career included tenures with the North Carolina Courage, Chelsea in the English Women’s Super League, and the Washington Spirit.
Hailing from New York, Dunn was part of the U.S. squad that clinched a gold medal during the Paris Olympics last summer. She also played a crucial role in the team that triumphed at the 2019 Women’s World Cup, showcasing her established presence in women’s soccer. As of now, she has made 154 appearances for the national team, scoring 25 goals and providing 20 assists.
Upon leaving Gotham FC, Dunn took to Instagram to share her thoughts, stating, “As I turn the page and prepare for a new chapter, I am filled with excitement for what lies ahead. The journey continues, and I’m dedicated to reaching new heights and becoming the best version of myself. Everything happens for a reason, and I’m ready to embrace this next phase of my career with passion, grace, and joy.”
