BIRMINGHAM, England — Jhon Duran, the young Colombian forward, has officially transitioned from Aston Villa to Saudi Arabian club Al-Nassr, marking another prominent player exit from a top European league.
The transfer, finalized on Friday, is said to be valued at approximately 64 million pounds (around $80 million).
At merely 21 years old, Duran is set to join superstar Cristiano Ronaldo at Al-Nassr, where he will don the number 9 jersey.
This deal signifies a remarkable financial gain for Aston Villa, who acquired Duran from the Chicago Fire for 18 million pounds (about $22 million) just last year in 2023.
The striker showcased his talent throughout the season, netting 12 goals in 29 appearances, including a standout performance with a decisive goal against Bayern Munich in the Champions League.
In a farewell message, Aston Villa expressed their best wishes for Duran as he embarks on this new chapter in his professional journey.
