Additional six tennis players suspended due to connections with a match-fixing ring in Belgium

Six additional tennis players, either current or former, were handed various suspensions and fines for their involvement in a match-fixing operation based in Belgium, as announced by the International Tennis Integrity Agency on Friday. Among these players, one received a significant penalty of 15 years, increasing the total number of athletes penalized in connection with the syndicate led by Grigor Sargsyan, who himself has been sentenced to five years in prison for his role in the scheme.

Agustin Moyano, a 34-year-old Argentine player, faced the longest suspension of 15 years and was also fined $10,000. Moyano attempted to contest the allegations and sought a lengthy hearing to clear his name, but ultimately faced severe consequences. He previously reached a career-high ATP ranking of 1,343 in 2015.

The remaining five players accepted their penalties for violating the rules related to matches from 2017 to 2018. These individuals include David Guez, Jerome Inzerillo, Romain Bauvy, Yannick Jankovits, and François-Arthur Vibert. Their bans vary, ranging from two years to five years and seven months. Among them, Guez, who is 42 years old, boasted the highest singles ranking, having achieved No. 116 in 2010. He agreed to a four-year suspension and a fine of $25,000, though $17,500 of that fine was suspended. Guez has not participated in any official matches since 2018, during which he earned over $800,000 in prize money according to the ATP Tour records.
