BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — Owen Koonce delivered an impressive performance, scoring 28 points to lead Cal Poly to a 90-81 victory over Cal State Bakersfield on Thursday.
Koonce also contributed with six rebounds as the Mustangs improved their record to 8-14 overall and 2-8 in the Big West Conference.
Supporting Koonce, Mac Riniker netted 14 points, hitting 4 out of 8 field goal attempts and an impressive 6 of 7 from the charity stripe, while also grabbing five rebounds.
Additionally, Peter Bandelj contributed 11 points, with a shooting performance of 1 for 4 from the field and making 9 out of 12 free throws.
For the Roadrunners, Marvin McGhee topped the scoring chart with 29 points and also showcased his defensive skills with two steals.
Jemel Jones was a close second for Bakerfield with 17 points, while McGhee further added to his tally with an additional 14 points throughout the contest.
Both teams are set to return to the court for their next matchups on Saturday.
Cal Poly will be making a trip to UC Riverside, while Cal State Bakersfield is headed to face Cal State Northridge.
