Davis scores 18 to guide Hofstra past Elon 74-63

ELON, N.C. — In a competitive matchup on Thursday evening, Hofstra managed to secure a 74-63 victory over Elon, with Cruz Davis leading the charge by scoring 18 points.
Davis demonstrated an effective shooting performance, making 6 of 15 attempts overall, including 3 of 5 from beyond the arc and converting 3 of 4 free throws.
Other standout performances came from Michael Graham, who contributed 15 points while shooting an impressive 7 of 8 from the field, as well as recording 13 rebounds.
Joshua DeCady also tallied 15 points with a shooting split of 5 for 7, including 2 for 3 from three-point territory, and went 3 for 6 from the free-throw line.

On the opposing side, TJ Simpkins was a key player for the Phoenix, finishing with 18 points, six rebounds, and four assists.
Meanwhile, Sam Sherry put forth a solid effort, contributing 16 points along with 10 rebounds.
In the first half, DeCady was instrumental for Hofstra, scoring 14 points, helping his team to a 39-32 lead at halftime.
The second half saw Hofstra grow their five-point lead into a 13-point margin, thanks to an 8-0 scoring spree that put them ahead 50-37 with 16:34 remaining in the game.
Davis added 13 points during the second half, further cementing the win.

Both teams are scheduled to return to action on Saturday, with Hofstra traveling to Campbell and Elon set to face Northeastern at their home court.
