HUNTINGTON, W.Va. — Georgia State secured a thrilling victory over Marshall with an 85-81 score on Thursday night, fueled by a standout performance from Cesare Edwards, who scored 27 points.

In addition to his scoring, Edwards showcased his versatility with five rebounds and three blocks, contributing significantly to the Panthers’ efforts. For Georgia State, which has a season record of 8-14 and a conference record of 4-6 in the Sun Belt Conference, Nicholas McMullen chipped in 14 points along with eight rebounds. Toneari Lane also played a crucial role, hitting two three-pointers and finishing with 14 points, while sealing the win by making two free throws just six seconds before the end of the game to establish a two-possession advantage.

Marshall, who now holds a record of 13-10 and 6-4 in their conference, saw Dezayne Mingo lead the team with 23 points and seven assists. Obinna Anochili-Killen contributed significantly as well, scoring 20 points alongside three steals and two blocks. Jalen Speer also had a strong outing, providing 15 points, five assists, and two steals for the Thundering Herd.
