McGriff nets 16 points as UNC Wilmington defeats North Carolina A&T 83-59

GREENSBORO, N.C. — Khamari McGriff provided a spark off the bench, contributing 16 points to help UNC Wilmington secure an 83-59 win against N.C. A&T on Thursday night.

McGriff had an impressive shooting performance, making 8 of 11 attempts from the field for the Seahawks, who now hold a record of 17-5 overall and 7-2 in the Coastal Athletic Association. Sean Moore added 15 points, shooting 6 for 12 overall, which included a pair of three-pointers, and he also grabbed 12 rebounds. Bo Montgomery was equally effective, finishing with 15 points on 7 of 10 shooting.

For the Aggies, who fell to 4-19 and remain winless in the conference with a 0-10 record, Jahnathan Lamothe was the standout player, scoring 20 points and dishing out four assists. Nikolaos Chitikoudis supported the effort with 16 points, six rebounds, and four assists, but the loss marks the ninth consecutive defeat for N.C. A&T.

At halftime, UNC Wilmington held a significant advantage, leading 42-25, with Nolan Hodge contributing 10 points to the score. The Seahawks continued to extend their lead in the second half, reaching a high of 72-46, bolstered by a 7-0 scoring run. Moore emerged as the leading scorer in the second half, adding another 12 points to his total.

Looking ahead, UNC Wilmington is set to face Stony Brook at home on Saturday, while N.C. A&T will travel to Charleston for their next matchup on Thursday.
