PEBBLE BEACH, Calif. — In an impressive start to the PGA Tour season, Rory McIlroy achieved a remarkable hole-in-one during his first round at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am.
McIlroy expertly hit the ball from 119 yards away on the 15th hole at Spyglass Hill using a wedge, resulting in the ball finding its way into the cup after striking the flagstick.
This memorable ace contributed to his impressive score of 6-under 66 in the first round of the tournament.
This marks McIlroy’s second hole-in-one on the PGA Tour, having previously accomplished a similar feat during the opening round of the 2023 Travelers Championship.
Prior to this tournament, McIlroy had not participated on the PGA Tour since competing in the Tour Championship last September, making this ace even more significant.
In addition to McIlroy’s hole-in-one, fellow golfer Shane Lowry also made headlines by achieving an ace during the same opening round.
Lowry’s shot at the renowned 113-yard seventh hole at Pebble Beach rolled straight into the hole, igniting jubilant celebrations among him, his caddie, and his playing partners.
This occurrence marks the first time since 2009 that multiple aces have been recorded in a single round at the Pebble Beach tournament, which has become a key event on the PGA Tour calendar and is well-known for its limited competitive field.
