WASHINGTON — In a compelling matchup on Wednesday night, Rafael Castro played a pivotal role in George Washington’s victory over Richmond, scoring 21 points as the Revolutionaries secured a 75-66 win.

Alongside his scoring contribution, Castro also dominated on the boards, grabbing 16 rebounds for the team, which improved to a season record of 15-6 and 4-4 within the Atlantic 10 Conference. Gerald Drumgoole Jr. was another key player, adding 19 points to the scoreboard. He demonstrated his shooting prowess by hitting six of his 16 attempts from the field, including five out of 11 from three-point territory. Trey Autry also had a strong performance, finishing with 18 points on efficient shooting, going 6 for 9 and sinking 4 of 7 three-point shots.

On the opposing side, the Spiders, who fell to 7-14 overall and 2-6 in conference play, were led by B. Artis White, who managed to score 17 points. Mikkel Tyne contributed 13 points alongside four steals, while Dusan Neskovic chipped in with 10 points and safeguarded the ball with two steals. This defeat marked Richmond’s sixth consecutive loss.

In a tightly contested affair, George Washington took a narrow 33-32 lead into halftime with Castro as their top scorer at the break with 12 points. The second half saw the Revolutionaries build on their slim lead with a powerful 10-2 run, expanding their margin to 66-55 with just 4:31 minutes remaining on the clock.

Looking ahead, both teams are set to return to action on Saturday. George Washington will face La Salle, while Richmond is scheduled to take on VCU in an away game.
