BETHLEHEM, Pa. — In an impressive display, Navy triumphed over Lehigh with a score of 79-54 on Wednesday night, marking a significant victory for the Midshipmen.
Austin Benigni led the charge for Navy, contributing 18 points and facilitating six assists, helping his team improve to an 8-14 overall record and a 5-4 slate in the Patriot League.
Team members Jordan Pennick and Carnegie Johnson also played crucial roles; Pennick netted 17 points alongside 10 rebounds, while Johnson maintained an efficient performance, going 4 for 4 from the field and shooting 3 of 4 from the free-throw line to total 13 points.
On the other side, Edouard Benoit emerged as the top scorer for the Mountain Hawks, finishing with 15 points and achieving two blocks. Tyler Whitney-Sidney supported the effort with 13 points of his own, and Hank Alvey rounded out the scoring with 12 points and two blocks.
Navy seized control of the game with 7:56 left in the first half, ultimately closing the half with a lead of 29-22. Aidan Kehoe also contributed significantly during this period, scoring eight points. In the second half, Pennick delivered an outstanding performance, leading the team in scoring.
Both teams are scheduled to compete again on Saturday, with Navy gearing up to host Bucknell and Lehigh preparing to face Holy Cross away from home.
