Caitlin Clark has decided to postpone her participation in a professional 3-point contest until the WNBA All-Star weekend in Indianapolis this July.
Her management team at Excel Sports confirmed this decision on Wednesday, noting that she turned down an opportunity to compete in a special challenge during the upcoming NBA All-Star weekend next month.
There had been possibilities for Clark to take part in a similar shooting contest that featured Stephen Curry and Sabrina Ionescu last year, where Curry triumphed over Ionescu in a thrilling showdown that became a highlight of the event.
Speculation has been growing about expanding this contest for the upcoming NBA All-Star Game, which will be hosted in the Bay Area in just two weeks.
Sabrina Ionescu previously shared her intention to attend the All-Star events but has chosen not to disclose whether she will participate in any of the on-court activities.
The news of Clark’s decision was first reported by Sports Business Journal.
In the meantime, Clark is preparing for a significant weekend as she will be honored with the retirement of her jersey following the Iowa Hawkeyes’ game against the No. 4 USC team on Sunday.
