IOWA CITY, Iowa — Caitlin Clark, a prominent basketball player, has granted a total of $22,000 to four charitable organizations in Iowa through her foundation. This initiative highlights the influence these charities had on her while she excelled at the University of Iowa.

The organizations selected to receive the funds, announced on Wednesday, include the University of Iowa Children’s Hospital, the Coralville Community Food Pantry, the Boys and Girls Club of the Corridor, and Special Olympics Iowa-East Central.

“One aspect I cherish about Iowa City is the connectedness of the community and the mutual support everyone shows,” expressed Clark. “I experienced this bond during my time here, and it’s vital for me to maintain that connection. I’m proud to contribute to the vital work accomplished by these organizations and the significant positive effects they have on Iowans.”

Clark has contributed to these groups in the past, by donating products and engaging in various events that aim to raise funds. She has previously mentioned that one of her most rewarding experiences was visiting the children’s hospital during her college years.

“Our foundation is excited to back these organizations since they resonate with our core mission, which focuses on empowering youth through education, nutrition, and sports,” stated Mary Coffin, the president of the Caitlin Clark Foundation. “Caitlin is a great role model for all of us, demonstrating how a single interaction can create significant change and build a legacy of supporting one another.”

The announcement of these funding grants comes just before the retirement of Clark’s No. 22 jersey, which will take place during the game against No. 4 Southern California this Sunday at Carver-Hawkeye Arena.
