LONDON — Buckingham Palace announced on Wednesday that Princess Beatrice has welcomed her second child. The arrival took place last week, with the couple introducing their newborn, Athena Elizabeth Rose Mapelli Mozzi, born on January 22. The infant weighed 4 pounds and 5 ounces at birth.

“She is tiny and absolutely perfect,” her father, Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, shared in a social media update.

According to the palace, the royal family, including the king and queen, has expressed their happiness regarding the news. Beatrice, who is 36 years old, currently holds the ninth position in the line of succession to the British throne. She is the first-born child of Prince Andrew and his former spouse, Sarah, Duchess of York.

The princess married Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, a prominent property developer, in July 2020 during a private ceremony held at the Royal Chapel of All Saints in Windsor. Athena will be joining her older siblings: Wolfie, an 8-year-old son from Mozzi’s previous relationship, and Sienna, the couple’s 3-year-old daughter.
