Liverpool, England – Ahead of their Champions League clash with PSV Eindhoven on Wednesday, Liverpool has decided to rest several key players including Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk.
The Reds have already secured their position in the knockout stage, prompting manager Arne Slot to take a more rotated squad to the Netherlands for the match.
In addition to Salah and Van Dijk, notable absences from the squad include Trent Alexander-Arnold, Alisson Becker, Ibrahima Konate, Ryan Gravenberch, Dominik Szoboszlai, Alexis Mac Allister, and Luis Diaz, who have all remained in Merseyside.
Currently, Liverpool sits atop the table and cannot finish lower than second in their Champions League group.
On Tuesday, Slot acknowledged that given the hectic match schedule, this provides an opportunity for certain players to “gain some freshness.”
Looking ahead, Liverpool will face seventh-placed Bournemouth in the Premier League on Saturday.
