LUVERNE, Ala. — A former jail administrator has been indicted by a federal grand jury on accusations of assaulting a handcuffed inmate at an Alabama detention facility and subsequently providing false statements to law enforcement agencies, according to a Tuesday announcement from the Justice Department.
Christian Alexander Porter, age 33, allegedly assaulted an unidentified handcuffed man while he was incarcerated at the Crenshaw County Jail back in October 2021. This facility is located approximately 50 miles south of Montgomery, the state capital of Alabama, as detailed in a statement from the U.S. Attorney’s Office in the Middle District of Alabama.
Following the incident, Porter is reported to have created a misleading use of force report and misled both state and federal investigators. He falsely claimed that the handcuffed inmate had “charged” at him during an examination within the jail
