For North Carolina, Maria Gakdeng led the way with 21 points, though the team’s five-game winning streak came to an end with this loss. In addition, Alyssa Ustby delivered a strong performance with 14 points and 10 rebounds, marking her ninth double-double of the season. Reniya Kelly added 16 points, while Lanie Grant and Lexi Donarski contributed with 13 and 12 points, respectively.

Donarski’s 3-pointer then gave the Tar Heels a brief 73-69 lead. With persistent efforts, Florida State managed to edge back ahead to 78-76 with just under three minutes remaining.

In the final moments, Gakdeng’s layup put North Carolina ahead 82-81, but Bowles responded with a three-pointer to shift the lead once more. Kelly’s layup at the buzzer leveled the game, but ultimately, it was Latson’s shot that sealed the win for Florida State.

Throughout the game, there were numerous lead changes and ties, with the teams trading advantages back and forth. North Carolina is set to play against No. 22 California on Thursday, while Florida State prepares to take on Boston College next.
