    JACKSON, Mississippi — Daeshun Ruffin delivered an outstanding performance, scoring a personal best of 37 points, guiding Jackson State to an 86-81 win against Bethune-Cookman on Saturday evening.

    Ruffin’s impressive stats included connecting on 12 of his 22 shot attempts, sinking five three-pointers, and converting 8 of 10 free throws. In addition to his scoring prowess, he contributed five assists for the Tigers, whose record improved to 5-14 overall and 5-1 in the Southwestern Athletic Conference. Romelle Mansel also made a significant impact, contributing 16 points and grabbing seven rebounds.

    On the opposing side, the Wildcats, who now sit at 7-12 and 4-2 in conference play, were led in scoring by Trey Thomas, who tallied 20 points. Daniel Rouzan was another key performer for Bethune-Cookman, contributing 18 points and pulling down nine rebounds, while Jesus Carralero added 17 points and made two steals to aid his team’s efforts.
