North Carolina Central triumphs over South Carolina State with an 82-77 victory

DURHAM, N.C. — In an exciting game Saturday night, North Carolina Central triumphed over South Carolina State with a close score of 82-77, thanks in large part to Po’Boigh King’s outstanding performance, where he scored 25 points.

Along with his score, King contributed six rebounds, helping the Eagles improve their record to 10-12 overall and 3-2 within the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference. Keishon Porter was also a key player for North Carolina Central, contributing 17 points by hitting 6 of 13 shots from the field and successfully sinking 5 of 7 free throws; he also grabbed five rebounds. Perry Smith Jr. rounded out a strong offensive showing, finishing with 16 points after making 7 of 10 field goal attempts and converting 2 of 4 from the free-throw line.

On the other side of the court, the Bulldogs of South Carolina State, now with a record of 9-11 overall and 3-2 in the conference, had notable performances as well. Mitchel Taylor led his team in scoring with 16 points while also recording four assists. His efforts were bolstered by Drayton Jones, who added 13 points, and Davion Everett, who contributed 12 points to the Bulldogs’ performances.

Both teams showcased their talents in an engaging matchup, making significant contributions on both ends of the court, but it was the Eagles that emerged victorious in this tightly contested game.
