INDIANAPOLIS — Jalen Jackson delivered an outstanding performance for Purdue Fort Wayne, scoring a career-best 38 points, leading his team to a 91-80 victory over IU Indianapolis on Saturday.
Jackson showcased his scoring ability, converting 11 of 16 field goal attempts, including two three-pointers, and hitting 14 out of 18 free throws. In addition to his scoring prowess, he contributed with seven rebounds and six assists for the Mastodons, who improved to a record of 15-7 and stand 8-3 in the Horizon League.
Supporting Jackson’s effort, Maximus Nelson added 15 points, while Chandler Cuthrell chipped in with 13 points on an efficient 6-for-8 shooting performance.
On the opposing side, Paul Zilinskas was the standout player for the Jaguars, scoring 23 points as he tried to keep his team competitive. Jarvis Walker also contributed with 14 points, and DeSean Goode recorded a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds, but it ultimately was not enough for IU Indianapolis to secure the win, leaving their record at 7-15 and 3-8 in conference play.
Both teams displayed impressive efforts, but Jackson’s remarkable performance was the highlight of the game, solidifying his team’s position in the league standings.
